Well known for his insightful, prudent views on licensing and comic syndication. He refused to merchandise his creations on the grounds that displaying Calvin and Hobbes images on commercially sold mugs, stickers and T-shirts would devalue the characters and their personalities.
Watterson, stopped writing in 1995.
This is Bill's letter he sent to news papers when he resigned.
After he finished writing, he vanished from the public eye and began painting landscapes of the woods with his Father.
