How to use the Firelighter
The porous ceramic stone absorbs lamp oil in the steel vessel. Once lit, it produces a generous flame for 15-20 minutes, allowing large logs to catch fire. Dry firewood is necessary in order for this tool to work.
What you'll find in the box.
You will need some Firestarter Fuel, you have a couple of options below:
Lamp, also known as Paraffin Oil - unscented is best but citronella lamp oil works just as well - available from your local hardware store.
Kerosene - This has a slight odour to it but works well - available from your local hardware store. Never use anything else as fuel - if you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Step by step guide.
Fill the pot with enough fuel to cover the firestone.
Allow the Fire Lighter stone to soak for at least 20 minutes. Over time, as you get to know your Firestarter you will be able to work out how long to soak it for, depending on the size and type of firewood.
Use the hook to remove the soaked Fire Lighter stone from the pot and place into the fireplace. Lightly roll the firestone in the ashes to make it easier to light. Light the firestone. Please note the firestone produces a large flame, ensure it is safely in the fireplace before lighting.
Place seasoned firewood on top of the firestone. No kindling is needed. The firestone will burn for 15 - 20 minutes. Please note that your firewood must be dry for this process to work.
After 15-20 minutes, use the hook to remove the firestone and sit it safely on the hearth to cool completely before placing it back in the pot. Do not place the hot firestone back into the oil - it is dangerous and the oil will either light or evaporate.
