Drying racks
Hanging Drying Rack — a ceiling-mounted airer on a rope-and-pulley system. Lower it to load, raise it to ceiling height where the air is warmest. 45.3″ × 23″ (115 × 58.5 cm), holds 22 lbs (10 kg), with 12 polyurethane-coated American ash dowels that won't mark wet clothes. Suits ceilings up to 13′ (4 m).
Wall Mounted Drying Rack — folds flat against the wall between washes, so it's out of the way when it's not in use. 25.2″ (64 cm) wide, extends 23.6″ (60 cm) when open, holds 13.2 lbs (6 kg).
Laundry Hamper — a natural container that sits in the room rather than hiding in a cupboard.
Shelving
Wooden Pegboard Shelf — a 31.5″ (80 cm) square birch board with a grid of holes, plus dowels and shelves that slot in wherever you want them. Each shelf holds 11 lbs (5 kg), and the whole layout rearranges without re-drilling the wall. Available with one or two sets of shelves and dowels.
Floating Shelves — a set of three wall shelves.
Ceiling Mounted Shelves — shelving suspended from the ceiling, using height that would otherwise go unused.
Common questions
Which drying rack should I choose?
Capacity or discretion. The Hanging Drying Rack holds more at 22 lbs (10 kg) and puts laundry at ceiling height where the air is warmest, so things dry faster — but it stays up there between washes. The Wall Mounted Drying Rack folds flat when it's not in use, which suits a small bathroom or hallway where you'd rather not see it.
How much laundry is 10 kg?
A typical household wash of shirts, sheets or everyday items. Wet laundry weighs roughly twice its dry weight, so a full machine load of heavier things like towels or denim is best split across two runs.
Where's the best place to install a drying rack?
The warmest, best-ventilated room you have, since warmth and airflow are what dry the laundry. A room with a fire, heat pump or radiator works well. Don't install directly above a fireplace or open flame — anything falling from the rack becomes a hazard. Elsewhere in the same room is fine.
What's involved in installation?
A drill, a level, and usually a second pair of hands. Fixings and instructions are included, and the supplied screws fix into solid timber framing or ceiling joists — for masonry or plasterboard, you'll need appropriate anchors from a hardware store.
Anything carrying weight overhead needs a secure fixing into solid structure, not plasterboard alone. For the ceiling-mounted pieces we'd recommend an experienced builder.
Can I rearrange the pegboard later?
Yes, and that's the point of it. The dowels and shelves slot into the grid wherever you want them, so the layout changes as your needs do — no new holes in the wall, no fixtures to replace.
Can any of this be used outdoors?
No. Timber and paper components aren't suited to outdoor conditions, so these are indoor pieces.
Will the timber mark wet clothes?
No. The dowels on the Hanging Drying Rack are polyurethane-coated, which seals the timber against moisture — so they won't stain wet laundry or develop mould from repeated damp loads.
