What is the Rectangle Blade Sign?
The Rectangle Blade Sign is a double-sided projecting wall sign with a 17.3″ × 5.7″ (44 × 14.5 cm) face, made from folded, powder-coated aluminum. It mounts perpendicular to the wall on a 2″ (5 cm) folded tab with pre-drilled holes, so it's visible from both directions along a corridor or street. It weighs 2.2 lbs (1 kg) and is supplied as a blank.
What else is the Rectangle Blade Sign called?
The Rectangle Blade Sign is also known as a projecting sign, flag sign, or wayfinding sign. When used for facilities it's called a restroom sign in the US and Canada, and a toilet sign in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Because it projects from the wall, it's read from along a corridor — unlike a flush-mounted plaque, which is only visible once you're in front of it.
How big is the Rectangle Blade Sign?
The sign face measures 17.3″ (44 cm) wide by 5.7″ (14.5 cm) high, and the sign weighs 2.2 lbs (1 kg). The wall mount is a 2″ (5 cm) folded aluminum tab with pre-drilled holes.
Is the Rectangle Blade Sign double-sided?
Yes. Both faces are visible, so the sign reads from either direction. If you're applying a symbol or logo, you'll need a decal for each side — worth factoring in when you brief your signwriter.
Does the Rectangle Blade Sign come with the restroom symbols?
No. The sign is supplied as a blank — decals and symbols aren't included. A local signwriter can apply vinyl lettering or a symbol to either face. For more information, see our blog post on how to find a signwriter or have your sign branded.
What is the Rectangle Blade Sign made from?
Folded, powder-coated aluminum. Aluminum doesn't rust, so the sign suits outdoor use as well as interiors — including covered outdoor areas and coastal locations where steel would corrode.
Does the Rectangle Blade Sign come with mounting hardware?
Yes. Wood screws are supplied, and the folded aluminum tab comes pre-drilled ready to fix. These fix into timber — for plasterboard between studs, or for brick, concrete or tiled walls, you'll need to source the appropriate anchors from your local hardware store.
Can the Rectangle Blade Sign be used outdoors?
Yes. It's powder-coated aluminum throughout, so it's weatherproof and rust-resistant, suitable for exterior walls and covered outdoor areas as well as interior corridors.
What shape blade sign should I choose?
The Rectangle Blade Sign is the widest shape in the range, so it suits a longer word or a business name — "TOILETS", "STUDIO", or a shop name — where a round or vertical sign would force smaller text. The full Blade Sign range includes seven shapes, all in the same folded aluminum with the same mount.
