What is the Open / Closed Sign?
The Open / Closed Sign is a slim aluminum sliding sign for a shop door or window. A slider moves between "Open" and "Closed", locking into place at each end so it stays where you set it. It measures 17.1″ × 2.1″ (43.5 × 5.3 cm), weighs 1.8 lbs (0.8 kg), and comes with re-stickable adhesive pads.
What else is the Open / Closed Sign called?
The Open / Closed Sign is also known as an open sign, shop open sign, trading hours sign, or door sign. Because it slides rather than flipping or hanging, it stays fixed to the glass and can't be turned the wrong way round or lost.
How does the Open / Closed Sign work?
A slider moves horizontally along the sign to show either "Open" or "Closed". A small bump on the top edge of the slider catches in a hole at each end, so it clicks into position and stays there — even when the door is shut firmly.
How do I install the Open / Closed Sign?
On glass, use the adhesive pads supplied: position the sign, then hold it firmly in place for 30 seconds so the adhesive bonds. On timber, metal or brick, a stronger adhesive is needed — worth getting a builder or handyman to fit it.
Can the pads be repositioned?
Yes. The pads are re-stickable, so the sign can be moved if you don't get the position right first time, or if you relocate it later.
Can the Open / Closed Sign be used outdoors?
It's aluminum, so it's weather-resistant and durable — but we don't recommend mounting it in full exposure to wind and rain. Inside the glass of a door or window is ideal: protected from the weather, and readable from the street.
How big is the Open / Closed Sign?
17.1″ (43.5 cm) wide by 2.1″ (5.3 cm) high, weighing 1.8 lbs (0.8 kg).
