Tell us a little bit about yourself

I grew up outside of Tauranga and spent most of my childhood outside, around water or on skis. I ended up studying business in Wellington before coming to Mount Maunganui to find a job that I could get excited about and be able to make the most out of living in this beautiful spot.

How long have you worked at George & Willy

Bang on two years now, I heard through the grapevine that there was always a role going if you had the right attitude so I turned up one day and got a job! It’s changed a lot since I started and it’s incredibly exciting watching the business change and grow, there’s always something inspiring in the pipeline and a fun adventure to look forward to.

What does your weekday look like?

A coffee at the beach to get some sun before heading off to work where I jump from lots of different roles depending on what’s new or needed. The best part about working in such a small team is getting to wear lots of different hats and every day the job is a little bit different. After work, I try to squeeze in an evening swim at the beach or stroll around the mount with good company.

What do you have for lunch?

Toasted Seeded loaf with smoked hummus, salmon and kimchi. This bread recipe is also a game-changer: https://www.davidlebovitz.com/josey-bakers-gluten-free-recipe-adventure-bread/

Tell us about your clothing label, Monday Journal.

I’ve always loved making things and got really into sewing when I was in high school, I never followed it through with study or a job but have always loved the challenge and reward of making things by hand. Monday Journal is hobby which I started after Uni, I have a few go-to patterns that people can commission to have made through insta. Although lately, with the cold snap I have been getting into knitting more than sewing, Check out Wool and The Gang if you're in need of a little project! Everyone should have something creative to keep them busy on a rainy day.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

A decent nights sleep.
